committment discipline goals mindset new year Jan 01, 2023

Before setting a goal, take some time to reflect on why this goal is important to you. How will it make a difference in your life? Know your “why” and remind yourself of it daily. Commit to every decision you make.

I read this and I think accepting what you are not, is the first step before you create any goal. Accepting who are and not will help you make realistic goals for yourself. For example, for years I have wanted to be an early riser. I have read the 5 am club. I have read all the blogs and articles about morning routines - disclaimer I have a great morning routine. However, it doesn’t start at the same time, and it definitely doesn’t start at 5 am or any time that feels like punishment. I am ok with that. Discipline does not have to feel hard.

So, prepare to resist this month. When you get bombarded with all the challenge invites, # to join, and peer pressure to evolve into the new you this year...pause and ask why? How will this make a difference for me?

My advice (which I am going to take) is it’s ok to not answer immediately.

Growth requires patience. So, reflect.

Here are some tips to help you reflect:

  • journal
  • meditate
  • listen to music
  • connect with people in your community
  • take a casual walk
  • get some sun

So, my wish for you is that you:

Get very clear on your WHY

Before you commit to what, when, and how. Moreover, give yourself grace that your why can change and change often.

Happy New Year but remember you get a new start daily. So, go slow and when you regress because you will - reflect on your why.
