The purpose behind the Values Exercise...
The purpose of a Personal Values Exercise is to help you gain a deeper understanding of your core beliefs and principles, enabling you to align your choices, actions, and goals with what truly matters to you. This exercise encourages introspection and self-discovery, allowing you to identify and prioritize the values that resonate most with your authentic self.
In this exercise, you are prompted to reflect on various aspects of your life and experiences to uncover your underlying values. Here's how it works:
-
List of Values: You are provided with a comprehensive list of common values such as honesty, harmony, growth, family, relationships, creativity, and more. You are encouraged to review the list and select values that genuinely resonate with you.
-
Narrowing Down: From the initial list, you are asked to narrow down your selections to a set of 5 with 3 values in each major bucket that you believe best define your core principles. This requires thoughtful consideration and self-awareness.
-
Narrow it Down Again: You will then have to narrow it down to ONE Top Value in each bucket. This part can take a moment, but the revelation through reflection can change your entire life.
